Spring Comes To Outer Podunk

Today on my lunch break I saw a sure sign of approaching spring -- a turkey vulture circling languidly above downtown Outer Podunk.

Now, a first turkey vulture of the year isn't nearly as evocative as a first bluebird or first robin...but here in the Upper Midwest we will take any harbinger of spring we can get.

ha, harbinger instead of "sign" of spring. Struck me as funny, somehow. Sort of a turkey vulture sort of word.

I can tell the difference between turkey vultures circling and eagles. The vultures always seem a bit tipsy.

Wow. I saw 15!! Turkey Vultures (I think) yesterday. They were in two groups. One was flying high above town, and the other group was flying right above the yard. It was very Alfred Hitchock-esque in my opinion... :) have a good one.
