Friday Botanical Blogging

A very Maxfield Parrish moment outside our satellite office this morning at about 8:00 as the sun was still rising. This tree is across the street from our building; it's absolutely gorgeous.

We are expecting wind, rain and even snow showers this weekend, meaning a soggy end to most of our autumn color. Ah, well -- it was lovely while it lasted.

Oooh. Beauty.

I've got a big gorgeous maple in the nabe, one with bright yellow leaves. I'll put up a pic soon, too.

They really are like fireworks -- I drive around going, "Oooh!" "Oh!" "Look!" Even if I'm the only one in the car.;-)

We don't get trees to change color like that much down here in this neck of the woods.
How beautiful.

Have I mentioned how much I miss trees that change color? Though right now, I miss fall temperatures below 85 degrees more. {sigh}

Sometimes we have lovely bright, colourful autumns here in the UK. But never like N.America - something to do with cold winters and hot summers, I believe. But autumn this year seems to be soggy and wet, as well as windy, so all the leaves are coming off the trees before they are even yellow!
Ah well! You win some, you lose some!!

Yeah, you can still tell I'm a newcomer to this State o' ours, LC. Riding around w/ natives/long-timers, I'm the one yelling "Ooooh, look at that one! And look at that one!" :-D

Sorta like Alice Walker said re the color purple (in a novel entitled, well, y'know *g*): God makes it, and it'd be a shame to miss it. ;-)
