Thanks Be To God

My mammogram results are fine.

The doctor doesn't know what's causing my problem, but it appears to be a dermatological, not oncological, problem.

I am a puddle of relief right now. So I'm not going to talk much. But thank you all, so much, for your prayers and support.

This has been a real values-clarification experience for me. But more about that later, after I've recovered for all this.

Woo-hoo! I am happy and relieved for you. No one goes through this kind of scare and comes out the same. Prayers of thanksgiving for you. God bless you!

Now, why don't they keep their alarmist ideas to themselves until they get the mamo! OH NO, just torture you for, well over a week? I am happy and relieved for you.

PC: On the way home from the clinic yesterday, I commented to FT that I wasn't sure whether I should be pissed off at or grateful to my new GYN for getting the ball rolling with the testing. FT pointed out that, as first-line screener, in the context of an annual women's wellness exam, the doc was just doing her job. (And engaging in CYA for herself and the health system.) I will say, though, that I didn't feel well cared for at that first exam. The nurse was kind of a patronizing bee-atch with a startling lack of sensitivity toward my sexual orientation -- she kept hammering me about why I'm not on birth control, and said, "Well, don't you have sex?" To which I smiled and replied, "Not with MEN." That visibly threw her. Maybe I was her first "out" lesbian patient. That seemed to rattle her for the rest of the exam. And she and the doctor were just so nervous and a bit judgmental about my risk factors for breast cancer. Yes; I'm overweight. My bad. I had an early menarche. My bad.

Praise God! Waiting for test results is so scary. What's almost as bad is having a test, being told that they didn't find what they might have found, but instead found something even scarier that requires more tests. Ask me how I know!

Oh I am so glad....Now you are free to enjoy the move from CCC and all the plans and hopes you wrote about - with a new sense of how wonderful the good things are.
Joyful and relieved hugs :-)

Yay! Dermatological=BETTER. :-)

When my partner was first out, she was really uncomfortable talking about it with anyone (weren't we all?) and she ended up with a nurse almost as clueless as yours. She went to her OB/GYN for a checkup and the nurse asked her if she was on some sort of "herbal" birth control.

Beloved was puzzled, and looked at her quizzically.

Nurse: "Well, in your chart under birth control it says 'less bran.'"

Beloved got the giggles. Now "less bran" will get us going in almost ANY situation.

Regarding your comment. OMG. There sure are better ways to ask that. What's with the assuming? What's with the value judgment? This sounds totally out of line regardless of orientation, etc.

Second tidbit of good news -- I got my annual exam results in the mail, and that was fine as well. I suspect my blood workup is going to show my cholesterol off the charts (all those Christmas/New Year's butterfat-laden noshes), but that I can handle.

TBTG indeed!

My gf had a similar scare a while back. Saw the breast doc, who reassured her and said that she should get a mammo sometime -- but it's a nervous time anyway.

(Less Bran? LOLOL!!!)

Praise God.

"Don't you have sex?" Puhleeze.

Glad things have resolved themselves, though.

Deb: What was that???

Yea, lesbianism, the BIG risk factor!

The more I think about your comments about what that stupid nurse said to you, the more I think it is out of line no matter one's orientation and sexual activity or lack thereof, whether biological or philosophical.

I've been praying for both you and your partner, and am glad to hear that your mammogram results came back okay.

I am on Facebook too, if you wish to add me.

WOO HOO!!!

And "not with men." That cracked me up. I don't have sex with men either, but the way. When I give blood they always ask me that.
