Once upon a time, I was going to plant the little pocket garden by my back steps all in bright colors -- reds, yellows, oranges. I changed my mind...but not after I'd bought some of the flowers. So I put them in this long planter and placed it at a corner of my sidewalk. I thought it turned out very well, and both the bees and the hummingbirds dig it.
Nasturtiums, yellow petunias, "Molten Lava" coleus...

I love container plantings of flowers. Most of my "gardens" are just around the house, but then I can't see them from inside. With the pots, I can put them where I can see them from the windows and by the walkway from the car to the house. Besides, now my perenials are pretty thick and there are no longer little places to stick some annuals.
