Cold Comfort Cottage is now officially in the 21st century, television-and-Internet-wise.
With help from Fellow Traveler, who did all the service provider wheeling and dealing, I now have satellite TV and Internet, for an amazingly discounted price. (CCC is now officially a "second home.")
Considering the direction heating prices are heading...I may be sitting in the living room in my winter coat and mukluks as my breath crystalizes in front of me...but at least I'll also be able to watch Ace of Cakes and download tunes while the frostbite sets in.

Congrats. Do you get Logo on your satellite package?
I haven't seen it. Of course, Cassie the dog took off with my laminated channel "cheat sheet," and it's presumably hidden away in what we call Cassie's Cove under the bed, so...it may be there, somewhere. (Interestingly my package doesn't include the popular Animal Planet, but that's just as well because Cassie gets so upset during shows that show animal abuse/neglect that that channel is off limits when she's around...the sound of dogs and cats in distress really affects her.)
Satellite TV: "forced on us" because the stuff I wanted to watch was no longer on the airwaves. Phew on that. Now we are getting about 250 channels on a TV from the late 80's. Like the kids say, It Sucks.
ps I'm back from Africa, but I haven't posted about it yet.
