Welcome to my world.

Ah, s/he isn't racist, just patriotic. At least that's what s/he wants you to believe.

Unfortunately, it isn't just in your world.

Yeah, I know ...

I didn't vote for Bush because it sounded too much like "tush" ...

I was wondering how long it would take before someone said it out loud. I've already encountered one online poster (in this case, a very educated and open-minded one, so you can just imagine what the uneducated, closed minded ones are thinking) who assumed from the name alone that he was Muslim (for the record, he belongs to UCC).

I remember when Smuckers had an ad campaign that played off their odd name, "with a name like Smuckers it has to be good". SNL did a spoof with all sorts of variations like "with a name like Dead Baby Puppies it has to be good."

Maybe Barak needs to start with a campaign featuring, "with a name like Obama, he's gotta be patriotic."

Then perhaps we can get on to the REAL issues.

Considering how the press is determined to derail the Clinton presidential run with "Are we really, really, really, really ready for a female President?" and the current nit-pickery over her joke about knowing how to deal with bad men...I think REAL issues are the last thing that are going to get media attention in this election.

Hillary is steamrolling and doing very well; I have watched the live townhalls and I'm more impressed than I thought I would be. And for goodness sake, of course we are ready for a woman prez, because if something happened to THE Prez, dear Nancy would be in the Oval Office...gotta live that vision!

That's funny. We had a comedy spot on CBC where someone said that. I didn't think it could be real.

This is probably no comfort, but when Obama ran for Senate, even here in Chicago there was concern about "Obama" sounding like "Osama."

I'm just waiting for when people learn his middle name...

how can you argue with perfectly sound logic like that? ;)

This kid in my Soc 300 class worked with Barack Obama when he was running for Senate. Although this probably is going to sound like a "friend of a friend" type thing, the guy said Obama is really down to earth and cool. (Not his exact words; colloquialism is MY friend.) He's just got that charisma, I think. Too bad candidates are now forced to have names that go well to the tune of Chuck, bo Buck, Fee fi fo... :)

Our illustrious national press corps made all kinds of "amusing" reports on this a few weeks back. Oh, and a few "misspelled" chyrons.

And then there was CNN's Jeff Greenfield who compared Obama's sartorial style to the nutty Iranian president whose name I can't spell, because they both wear a button-down shirt and jacket without a tie!

Yeah, them and half the men in America on casual Friday....

Is there much danger of someone in Outer Podunk or Outer anywhere voting for a democrat? I'm just asking. Maybe I'm stereotyping.

To Tom: I live in another-state's upper outer Podunk and there aint even any Republican candidates on most of the ballots here. We are also a relatively high wage area. Think that there is any connection?
