Prayers, Please, For the Pup

Constant Readers will be sad to learn that The Codeman, my cute-but-irascable Maltese, is sick...severe intestinal problems and lethargy; won't eat. He isn't in pain, though, and has short bursts of energy, and when one of his big blonde girlfriends tried to cheer him up, first by waving a stuffed toy in his face and then by presenting him with a kibble, his response was true to form -- growling at her. He has been spending much of the last three days cuddling on Fellow Traveler's lap or sleeping on his own bundle of favorite blankets. Yesterday, with much encouragement, he ate about a tablespoon of McDonald's hamburger (a favorite treat) and sausage, and some chicken soup. Today he's not eaten anything yet. The God I believe in is a God who cares even about elderly little dogs; please keep him in your prayers, that whatever the outcome for this is the best one for him.

Gracious God, in your love you created us in your image and made us stewards of the animals that live in the skies, the earth, and the sea. Bless us in our care for our pets and animals, especially bless and care for LC and The Codeman. Help us recognize your power and wisdom in the variety of creatures that live in our world, and hear our prayer for all that suffer over-work, hunger, and ill-treatment. Protect our creatures, and guard them from all evil, now and forever.

Amen

So sorry to hear it; it's really sad when the short ones are hurting. Prayers for you all.

Please join my prayers to those above. These poochly souls, are such astonishing creations. God will surely hear the murmurings of Codeman's soul.

Lunchtime update: Cody ate a couple of small pieces of chicken, which is a good thing, because that's his favorite food of all. At one point he was energized enough to make a run down my driveway during his morning constitutional, making his nurse have to run after him, but now I'm told he's snoozing again. We think it would help him to eat some of his usual lamb-and-rice doggie kibbles, and he's mildly interested in them, but it's like he doesn't quite have the energy to commit to crunching them. He is drinking water on a regular basis.

Amen to Tom's prayer.

Do you think you could soak the kibbles in something? (chicken broth? Plain water?)

Prayers for your pup - if I recall correctly, I believe this is the white dog that looks like our dog?

My prayers are added to the above. Mr. M. sends whatever dogs send each other.

God knows The Codeman as well as God knows each of us with only two legs, and surely cares for The Codeman just as much...

Hugs to you and FT...and blessings on the blonde girls who are trying to help!
