Freak Show

After several weeks of watching political candidates of both parties falling over one other in attempts to toady to conservative Evangelical voters, all I can say is...thanks to all you con-evs out there for making me want to become Canadian.

I have always wanted to be Canadian! Seriously, I even dated a guy from Edmonton in grad. school.

Meh... You'd be trading one set of aggravations for another.

We don't have openly loony fundies and even the Conservative party is in favour of multiculturalism and "the Third Way" over cold free market fundamentalism, but the petty personality battles in Parliament and other venues would give you heartburn too.

The scandal du jour is Scantily-clad-woman-gate.

My DH is Canadian, so we've always got one foot on the other side of the border... politically, it's got a lot going for it.

Thank you.

But as Dan notes, because humanity seems to need to bitch and moan, we squabble about trivia. It's a country of cat by-laws, LOL!

Namaste

I think Canada is the best country in the world. Naturally I'm biased. We tend to define ourselves by what we're NOT and usually it comes down to "we're NOT American." But we're far from perfect.

We should all be used to that. We define ourselves as Christians by what we are not as well, and it usually comes down to "we're NOT one of those loony fundies"
