The annoying Mr. Stone seems to have jumped ship, so to speak...so we hopped in the Jeep and took off as soon as we could get packed. We've decided to scrap our itinerary and just go wherever the mood strikes us; we're making the town of St. Ignace, just past the Mackinac Bridge, our base camp for the next day or so, and may go exploring the Les Cheneaux area, to the east, along the Lake Huron coast. Or we may not. Dang, this is fun.
Moonrise over Bois Blanc Island, taken from the water's edge at St. Ignace.

Sounds like fun! Have a good time!
Go on up the road to Sault Ste. Marie, my wife's ancestrial (native American) home. Check out, if you can, the Episcopal church parish, St. James. I believe they do the evening office during the week.
Check the Shipwreck Museum in the UP. I balked at the idea that come from LH's lips to go there, thinking it would be terribly depressing. However, I was pleasantly surprised at what a fine museum it is and the restored lighthouse which gives a glimpse of how the keepers' and family lived. It was all very well and nicely done.
There's boardwalks to go out to see Lake Superior. We saw a freighter go by.
Try a whitefish sandwich in Paradise. The bun was so-so but the fish was delish.
Enjoy and savor your time away.
I can see it now...sitting on a big rock at a park along the shore of Lake Michigan....eating a fresh hot pasty while looking out across the water at the "Mighty Mac". Jimmy Buffett can have his Margaritaville; I'll take the U.P any time!
ENjoy your holiday!!
Have fun
